Did very poorly on my first flight Sunday, falling out miserably from a 2000-foot release... but on the second, there was a big flat-bottom cloud right over the field, the winds aloft slowed up a bit, and there was good lift all over the place.
I climbed from 3000 to 6400 (just shy of cloud base), and flew all around the area, staying aloft for 2 hours. Definitely could have stayed up longer, but once I got to cloud base, I just felt like coming down.
Another first on this flight was "gaggling" with Andy, who launched in the 1-26 after he saw how well I was doing, and came over to join me in some 4-600fpm lift.
Being bolder and more experienced, he headed south to Princeton and came back... I did stretch out a bit, but upwind to the west; could have easily landed at Solberg if necessary, as I was out over the river at one point, about 8nm from the home field.
What a great day!
