Here are my current specs:
core i7-920 OC's
GTX-285
4GB RAM
EVGA x58 mobo
2 74GB raptors (one for Win XP, one for Win 7)
640GB WD Black for FSX
2 1TB WD Black drives in RAID for storage

Here's my question. I might want to take the raptors out so I don't have dual boot anymore (I'd use Win 7 x64 with Win XP mode for old programs). 1 raptor won't be large enough, so I was thinking of getting a new drive.

That said, I'm wondering what drives (besides the new raptors and SSD) are faster than the old 74GB raptors. Would a new 2TB WD Black w/64MB cache, or the Seagate XT's be faster? Or do I take the plunge and go for an SSD?

Thx!

Whilst SSD will give you the ultimate it is rather expensive. How much have you got in your wallet?

WD Black 2tb
Samsung Spinpoint F3 biggest capacity possible
600 gigabyte WD velociraptor
450 gigabyte WD velociraptor

I doubt the latency of the first two would be as good as the early raptor.
