The History Channel has a new show starting July 20
th
. The ad looked interesting and including a shot at Princess Juliana, plus some mid-air near misses. Looking forward to this one.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Princess J is only extreme if you're on the beach behind a departing jetliner. (Sandblast)
Expecting St. Bart's, Saba (which are all close to Princess J actually!), Kai Tak (though closed), Lukla, Courchevel, and
maybe
Burnsville's Mountain Air Airport in North Carolina.

Also Tegucigalpa and Saba are expected. Possibly Midway since it's so short and Santos Dumont

I was stopped in traffic there last year, it was a 10 minute long traffic light, but the wait was worth it...I got front row seats to watch a departing A320. Driving across an active runway was pretty cool too

Very cool show, missed the first three though, so I'm hoping for a repeat performance soon.
I've got a couple of new places to fly at now.
I was a little surprised that San Diego was on the list.
In case you missed it, here's the list:
1) Lukla
2) Tegucigalpa
3) St. Barths
4) St. Maarten
5) Gibraltar
6) Hong Kong
7) Courchevel
8) Eagle County
9) Madiera
10) San Diego

Me too. I guess it's just because of the traffic. I was also surprised at Eagle County. I always felt Telluride was more difficult than Vail. I think they got #1 right, although for me, Bear Camp Research in BC is a lot more difficult than Lukla. I think it's fictional though, so it doesn't count.

I think St. Barth's is the hardest.. I can't imagine having to keep a plane at such a nose down attitude (even with flaps!) on final.. I feel my speed would go way up and I'd have to flare too high to lose that speed, causing me to go off the end of the runway... lol. But then again, those are Islanders and Twotters.. not C-172's lol

Saw your post. Meant to watch it. Forgot until 9, and at that time Deadliest Catch was on. Set my DVR to record it when it was on again from 12-2AM. Didn't record cause it ran out of space. So now I have to see it on Saturday when it's a rerun.

Caught the second half of it last night, and saw it was on later so I set the DVR to record it and I will watch it tonight. Im not surprised San Diego is on the list. Its the busiest single runway in the US, and there is a ton of air traffic around San Diego. (See PSA crash) Plus the approach is fun, think on the lines of Kai Tak, but straight in. Then again, so is the departure since it is pretty steep.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
