Hello.
I was reading the post on getting "beeter fps", and there was an interesting point. "Fs simulates the entire world, with changes, not just in scenery but also AI and weather, ect..."
My question is, and of course if there is any improvement. Can we in a way choose an area to fly ( eg. Europe) and in a way disable the other parts of the world so that the pc is just focus on that part? Getting a better performance?
Is just a thought.
Many thanks

As I understand it, FS only loads what is needed to display where you are at the moment.

The same holds true for AI aircraft - only that which is active in your area is actually being loaded.

So the bottom line is that disabling other scenery and/or aircraft will have no effect other than possibly help on the "initial" load time (startup) as everything is "checked" during startup.

I read that too, but it's more true with FSX than it is with FS9. FS9 really seems to do just as Opa suggested, by only rendering what's nessesary at the moment.

Both flight sims as I understand it, work in much the same way, as Opa has pointed out.   But yet at the same time, they do still load some information into RAM so that if you choose to go to a new area, then it has the basic information (geographical information - coordinates and altidutes, and airport information) waiting.   There is no way to turn off the waiting information.

in your sim, if you switch to TOP DOWN VIEW and zoom out, the further UP you go in zooming, the less defined the world becomes.   The Basic information for the world is there, but nothing specific to show.

In your settings/weather you can set what your VIEWING DISTANCE is.  How far can you see?? 30nm up to i think 120nm.   anything past 120nm (basic naked eye if you are on top of a mountain looking out at the world below) you are not going to see anyway, but it is still there.   Same thing in Flight Sim, you cant see it, but it can not go away.

The only thing that may really impact performance, is the level of detail in your craft, AI Craft, scenery and weather, and if there are any programs running while you are trying to fly in FS. Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Google Earth, ANTIVIRUS software, .... any addon that you might use for multiplayer connections - FSINN.
