Justin over at FSGenesis has just started releasing 19 meter resolution terrain mesh for the states in the USA that have "interesting terrain".  This will bring the USA into pretty high resolution for fs2004.  He is starting with the Southwest...... Airzona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, etc.

It is GREAT to see some new product for fs2004 coming out.  He is not leaving us non-Xer's high and dry.

A FSXpress membership will give you unlimited downloads for a full year for fs2004 and FSX... it is a BARGAIN!  $80 for full world coverage for both FSX and fs2004.  Do it.

http://www.fsgenesis.com/

best,

...............john

The new fs2004 19 meter mesh is being being released on almost a daily basis.  More states are available now.

The FSGXpress membership, (which allows unlimited FSGenesis fs2004 and FSX downloads for a year) is about to increase in price from about $80 to about $100.  So if you are interested... save yourself $20 by getting one now.

Compared to the default mesh.... and even to most other payware mesh... this resolution greatly improves the realism.  Plus they already had even higher resoultion mash already available for places like the Grand Canyon (which you can get with the annual membership program).

best,

.................john

Today is the last day for the FSGXpress membership a the old price.

And a number of more states have been added in the 19 meter mesh since I last posted here.

Just wondering why it is so darned expensive to have a membership?  Huh

Are all of their downloads free if you have one?

I looked at the site, and seen that each one costs something, but nothing that jumped out and answered my question.   Wink

It's in the pane to the right of the page. Unlimited downloads. What does it do? And is it a frame killer?

I see it now.  Wink

Not a bad deal at all if you fly in the US a lot.   Cool

John reminded me of this, knowing that I spend most of my time in Cal, but without checking the resolution, I wonder if is an improvement on my present "FS Global SE Mesh for FS 2004"?
....including some of the Cal; SRTM Meshes I have already installed?

It would be a massive improvement over what you're seeing now.  Wink

19m is the best you can get for FS9,

38m is usually about the best you'll find freeware for FS9,

and that is usually only for small areas, like the Glacier Bay addon.  Cool

Your "FS Global SE Mesh for FS 2004" is 76m,

in comparison, the Global Terrain Mesh uploaded here at Simviation is 70m,

so that explains why when we fly online together,

we're always appearing to be floating or sunk in the ground just a tad to each other.  Wink

The smaller the number, the better the details.  Wink

Fozzer....... the difference between 76 or even 38 meter resolution is amazing.  Most stuff available that I know of is FAR worse then the FSGenesis stuff.

In your case... you only need to invest in California.  Not too expensive for the one purchase.  It is an autoinstaller ......... that actually works exactly as advertised.

If you can float it currency-wise ........ I think you'll be impressed.    Contact them directly to ask about the resolution comparison to what you are using.

best,

Sean,

The membershiop allows you unlimited downlaods for a year... of anything that they already have developed,..... and anything that they develop in that year.  And you have unlimited access to BOTH the fs2004 and the FSX versions.

While I am currently flying fs2004.... I will "stock up" on the FSX stuff for future use.

And FSG actually has some 10 meter mesh that works for places like the Grand Canyon, the Hawaiian islands, the Tetons in Wyomeng, Monumant VCalley, and so on.

best,

I bought five states the other day, first time ever paying for mesh and to me, it was worth every penny.  Since I bought 5, they only charged me for four of the states, the fifth was free!  Wink

I got the four corners states and California and all I can say is WOW!  What a difference it makes!  All I had before was the freeware 38m mesh for these areas.

My desert terrain truly looks like it should now with towering mountain ranges flanked by flat desert valleys.

Looks like they are slowly working their way up the NW coast towards Alaska, that will be a definite purchase if they get there with 19m resolution.
