I mentioned this in another post, but since I haven't found one in my searches, I'll post it here. I wanted to find a (hopefully) free plane from the movie Airplane!. A 707 that had the red stripe going down the body that said Trans America above the windows in red letters. I can't find one like that anywhere. Has anybody found one or is making a plane based on that a copyright violation issue and piracy/bad idea, need to forget about it?

I doubt you would have to worry about any kind of copyright issue.  I would actually recommend finding a Trans World 707, which is what the fictious Trans America was actually based on.  All the movie creators did was change the one word on the side of the plane.

What would I search for for your bare metal version with DC 4 sounds? I just found a file that someone repainted with the right colors (at least I hope its all i need) but I don't understand what folder I need to put the files in. Ive tried to put them in the aircraft folder under Texture but Its not selectable for some reason. I don't understand why.

It's been a long time, so I don't remember where the 707 pkg with a bare-metal model came from, BUT, look around for Alejandro Rojas' (aka: Alrot) 707s.

You hafta edit the soundset yourself. Cheesy

Awesome models, and ya get a blonde cutie right-seater! Wink

Dunno if you're interested or not Jim, but I just got done submitting a default 737-800 Trans American flight 209. It'll be in FSX Civil Jets tonight or tomorrow I would imagine.

Btw, reading this thread this morning was the inspiration so TA. Now I gotta go watch that movie again!

holy crap that looks awesome! Wow, the details look so right! You say you made it for FSX? Uh...does that mean its not compatible with FS9 2004? Unfortunately, that is the only version of FS I own right now. Please tell me I can use it in 2004? Right?

Sorry, but yeah it's FSX.  Undecided

Dunno if anyone has retro-converted the default 737-800 from fsx to fs9 and if the .dds would work for it.

Unfortunately that's not possible.
