I'm AWOL and so are many of you.  Grin

A long hot summer, they said...and it is turning out to be just that.....a cool wet spring punctuated by a major flood, and now a near draught and heat indexes in the 100F range.
In spite of that, being outdoors is great, and there's a never-ending list of jobs around the house and yard (Damn, I love my new lawn tractor.)...not to mention the visiting grand children, genealogy road trips, class reunions, little flights in Mike's Swift and all that pesky real-world paperwork and stuff too.  Shocked

OMG, it's really cutting into our CFS2 time.  But this too shall pass, and (like MacArthur) we shall return....or more contemporarily...we'll be back. Cheesy

And to think I thought we hadn't made it off Corregidor and had succumbed to the Bataan Death March!!
I suspect it will be more subtle than that and eventually most of us will just fade away.  Cry

Served with a survivor of that particular event....an 18 year-old gunner off a B-17   Last saw him in '68.  He's long gone now, but he was hell on wheels and I'll always remember him.  Smiley

Was at my 48th class reunion last month...at a school that has been closed for 42 years, and told a fellow alumnus that one day one of us would call another and say, 'We're the last two.'  He said he would like to be the last one.  I asked him what he would do.  He said he'd bring a bottle of bourbon, drink a toast to St. Joe Prep, undefeated since 1968 and then turn out the lights and lock the building.  Yes, we're fading away....but that's not a bad thing.  And with the dumbing of America, the place is going to hell in a handbasket anyhow.  Cool

Ain't it the truth!

Following up and that cheery observation, I've been trying to console myself lately with the rational that
an interesting life sure beats the hell out of a life well lived.
To bad I couldn't have figured out how to do both.   Grin
