Welcome to the Ultimate Alaskan Tour!

...

Are you ready for a marathon trip into one of the wildest places on Earth?
Our favorite hop list guru, SeanTK, has prepared the mother of all Alaskan tours,
stopping at places I know you've never heard of!  Grin  Wink

The only scenery recommendation we will be making for this tour
is the freeware Glacier Bay scenery.

For all other scenery,

Please note:

Due to the immense size of this tour,
and the large number of small airfields on it,
there may be a problem or two.
If you encounter any issues on this tour,
PLEASE mention it here in this thread
by including the hop #, and which airport it occurred at.  Smiley

Thank you all for flying this beast,
and thanks to SeanTK for putting it all together.

See you in the Great White North.  Cool

Completed the first two legs today with Shane and Brando, using my trusty default Beech Baron 58. (Ideal for its turn of speed to complete the Tour!).

Adding the route details, direction, mileage, altitude, frequencies, etc, hop by hop, in my print out of the complete Tour.

Paul....Keeping the engines covered up and warm overnight, and off again tomorrow!... Wink...!

where can we get some of the scenery?  or should we go GOOGLE the areas and see what we come up with?

I already found a decent FS9 - UNALASKA -- Deadliest Catch; actually it is the whole Aleutian Island chain, not just 'Dutch Harbor' (R.I.P. CAPT PHIL HARRIS!) ... and I am about to download ULTIMATE TERRAIN - ALASKA/CANADA and UT-Europe.  Hopefully with these I will have a pretty good scenery in my major flight areas.     US, Alaska, Scottland.

If I do get the chance to fly this, I will be steaming out of "Dutch Harbor" in the fishing boat 'ANDREA GAIL' (http://www.fs-shipyards.com/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=203) in memory of Capt. Phil.  It would be a great honor if someone that has FS9, and had a Coast Guard Helo would accompany me on the trek out.

At 120 stops, it would take a LOT of time for me or anyone else to search the internet and find scenery for all of these, if scenery even exists for them all.

Last night, I was able to find some stuff for a couple dozen of them by searching the big three sites using the term 'Alaska'.  Wink

The important addons for this trip, are a good global texture addon, a decent mesh, and Glacier Bay v2 by Holger Sandman.

Everything else, would just be eye candy for the individual pilot.

120 flights x 30min average flight time = 3600 total flight minutes

3600 minutes / 24 hours = 150 hours flight time...

That sounds about right.  Cheesy

The NZ tour was a little short, and the Aussie tour was three times as big, so we wanted this one to be able to last a while, but still be short enough to want to accomplish,

It also has to  last at least until the end of 2010. These things take a while to plan out and program into the server.  Shocked  Cool

Not sure where we'll go in 2011.  Lips Sealed  Wink

One more thing, Is their a way to see where I left off?  I spent 20min today figuring out the code, and 1/2 the airports on the list are misspelled... Grin

@Skoker, I think you can type "?hop" (without the quotes) to find out what route you need to accomplish.

None of those airport names are misspelled.

If they are, you can blame MS. That's how they appear in FS9  Wink

?hop will tell you where you left off, or you can look here to see where everyone is:
