I have all of the gauges from FS9 installed in the FSX gauges folder. Do the individual ones I need, have to be extracted from the gauge.cabs  and placed in the panel folder to work?

What I found odd with it, is that it never called them by the names as they appear in the panel.cfg,  it kept calling out gauges that I can't even find in the Gauge folder, or the stinsons original panel folder.  Huh

I'm getting somewhere with it.  Smiley

After copying and extracting the fs9 cab files into the Stinson's panel folder I got the call outs to quit.

I've got the main panel alpha figured out in VC mode, and I think the problem with the gauges that are not showing, is an alpha issue on the gauge bmp files themselves.

Here's where I'm at so far with the VC:

Still working it.  Wink

Looking just fine there Shane. Over half way there. Looking forward to flying it in FSX.

There's a lot of gauge files to go through on this one.  Shocked

Wink

The prop does some funny things as well, but the best part is, there's no "behind the prop" scenery/cloud disappearance issues with it.  Cool

Hopefully it won't take too much longer, and then we can see it over that NL2K v4.  Smiley

Sounds good Shane. Just want to move it to the top of the page. Don't what it to move off page one and get forgotten.  Wink

Sadly, that panel is about as good as it's going to get.

It refuses to allow anything with a .gau extension to load, and most of the ones listed in the panel.cfg are so oddly named, that I don't know what to replace them with.

If you can tell me what is supposed to be where in the missing spots, it would be a BIG help.  Smiley

Also, the pilot & copilot refuse to show, so you'll have a pilot-less plane.  Shocked

If you install the Reliant to FS9 & have FS Panel Studio you should be able to see which gauges go where.

Like most of Bill Lyons' aircraft you toggle the pilot & passenger with the Spoiler key.

PS. Which texture did you tweak to get the VC to display properly in daylight?

I don't have the panel studio, I've thought about getting the trial version, but I hate installing things that could possibly have a time limited function.

I have it in FS9, but (and I hate admitting this) I'm not sure what half of these old gauges are, and what a suitable replacement for them would be.  Embarrassed

For the panel, it was stin11.bmp
I had to make the whole texture file solid black, and then gave it a black alpha channel, and then they showed.

I also reversed the alpha channels on these textures:

smisc.bmp
stin8.bmp
stin11.bmp
prop.bmp
prop1.bmp
prop2.bmp
prop3.bmp

I tried a few others, but wound up making the entire plane invisible.  Grin

The trial version of FS Panel Studio has no time limit. It's fully functional but you cannot save changes for obvious reasons. I find it ideal for checking out panels. You could also identify the gauges by viewing the panel in FS9.

Thanks for the editing tips.

Well, in that case, I'm downloading it now!  Smiley

If I had the ability, I'd put an AH in the hole above left of the wheel.  Move the MP and RPM to the right, above the turn and bank.  In the remaining empty holes, airpeed, altimeter and DG.  There's a Piper combo oil temp/press that'll fit to the right of the prop control.  Put a smaller clock in the hole directly in front of the wheel then you have room for an ADF or VOR head in the empty hole.  Piece of cake  Cheesy.

UPDATE:

I've got all replaceable gauges working, EXCEPT two:

The ASI, and the VSI for some reason will not display the gauge faces, the needles show, and they function, but that's it. No matter what gauges I place in those two spots, they meet with the same results.

Everything else has been replaced with gauges from the Beaver, DC-3, Cub, and C208.

...

I've reached my wits end with those two gauges, so ANY help on why they won't show would be greatly appreciated, and MANY, MANY thanks Doug for the Panel Studio recommendation. That program is a life saver!!  Grin  Wink

As for the prop, from these two shots, you can see that it isn't really visible while in motion, but the good news is, you won't have the funky 'see behind' glitch.  It IS visible when the motor is off.

...

...

There are a couple of other little graphical anomalies, but nothing so serious as to notice during flight.  Wink

Hopefully someone will know the secret of the invisible gauge faces, and then I can get it over to you!  Smiley

Thanks to a reply I received elsewhere,

It appears as though there is no fix for this, short of having the Gmax source files and modifying the VC panel.  Cry

Oh well, I can just move those two gauges to a different spot on the panel.  Most of them showing is better than none.   Wink

That's ok with me. Thanks for all the time and effort spent on this project. When and where can I download it?
