Due to the amount of addons, multiple screens, etc, my fairly fast system doesn't perform as well as one might think with FSX. As a mental exercise, I've been going over what it might take to move up to the Core I7 980, with some specific questions about the motherboard. I realize that FSX might not run that much faster on its own, but that I still might get a boost because other supporting applications, such as weather, ezdok, trackIr, etc, will have extra cores to run on.
I have an ASUS P6T, but not the Deluxe one. I am not inclined to upgrade to the deluxe model. Aside from having a few less slots, what am I missing out on? Do I lose some overclocking ability by having the lower-end model motherboard? Dumb question, I know, but I'm a flight simmer, not a hardware kook.
