Hi all.   Here is my latest attempt at flying a tight formation in the default extra300 while performing some tight turns and loops. Although my formation skills have improved a lot since my last vids,  I`ll put off a full display until fsrecorder 2.1 is released.  It will allow me to use audio cues and will have its own non real time video renderer built in.  I`m not using any duplicated tracks.

Enjoy...

I`ll bung it on simteevee when it allows me to log in.

Thanks Jakes, glad you liked it.  There are no edited or duplicated tracks or time shifts here, just pure old fashioned "play as traffic" then record the next flight... It would make it look all a bit too ridged if I had.

The only thing I did differently from my previous vids was to use tail view, then move the viewpoint over left or right so the lead aircraft was pretty much centred in my screen, this I feel compensates for lack of peripheral vision and depth perception you`d have in the real world (and no track ir).  Theres not much need to see the instruments of the aircraft your flying whilst in formation as your taking all of your cues from the lead aircraft in whatever position you are in.

Another thing that helped a lot was my homebuilt flight stick and throttle, they are about 3 feet from pivot to handle which gives me a very large deflection range.  It uses very sensitive hall sensors that gives me extremely precise control with zero free play.  It cost about £30 to build, it looks fairly ugly, but is a dream to use.

Also, I flew one part over and over until I got it right, before I flew the next part.  The 5 and 6 positions were the hardest as the throttle inputs to stay in position during the turns are extremely dynamic.

No TrackIR yet. Have wanted a set for years but still I cant really afford it.   I found as long as I keep the view pointing at the lead aircraft it will suffice, I dont take my eyes off the leader for a second the whole flight.
