I've been thinking about trying to write a gauge that presents the sort of view you see on real in-flight screens with some airlines (e.g. Saudia) where you see what's going in front of a plane during takeoff and landing from a nose-mounted camera. Well, I was thinking of trying to simulate that by getting an icon-controlled pop-up to show a defined view (say, nose-mounted camera, slightly pointed down) from the 2D panel without having to press W or go to the VC view (only if there's no acctual VC, of course).

Anybody knwo if there's one already out there (re-inventing wheels and all that), or what I might need to do to write one?

Wink

Well, IF there is one, and Payware as Skoker said, there will be no harm in making another one?! That would be cool!

only a suggestion, but what about open a NEW 2d cockpit view window.. then just hit "W" 2 times to get rid of the panel altogether, then you can put the new window whereever you want on your 2D or VC?   It would give you a forward view to which you could see the ground/runway, horizon, sky... everything just fine, but you wont really have to write a whole new XML just for that.

Almost sounds more complicated than writing the gauge!  Grin
