I am totally new at trying to repaint or edit aircraft textures. Can Anyone out there tell me why I cannot open FS9 aircraft texture files, so I can modify them.. specifically painting on new N Numbers... All I get is a white screen in paint-shop. Some aircraft however open fine, and I am able to edit with no problems.... I would say most of the aircraft I can repaint or edit seem to be those I have downloaded. Default FS9 aircraft I cannot edit at all. Thanks in advance.

Are you using DXTBmp to open you texture files before senfing them to your editor?

I've noticed that some of Ito's textures can be directly edited, but usually, as a rule, you have to use a "translator", for lack of a better word, since the textures for FS9 are extended BMPs (Native FSX uses .DDS format).  But I think photoshop has a plug-in, and  the SDK has "Imagetool". which does the same thing as DXTBmp, and does .DDS files.
