The default Baron sorely needs a GPS mounted in the panel. It has a big blank space begging for it:

...

Can it be done? I've tried by editing the panel.cfg file, but no such luck. Ideas? Suggestions? Am I wasting my time?

I do believe it is pointless.

A short tutorial on VCs:

When the creator of an aircraft (in this case, MS) makes the VC, they create planes for where each gauge or group of gauges goes.  For instance, here's a shot of my Angel 44 VC in Gmax.

...

The red spots are the places where I overlay gauges using the panel config.  Most MS planes use simple square panels, like the ones I have in the center.  However, they seem to neglect spots that they won't be putting gauges, even if gauges or other stuff would fit there. Roll Eyes  And you can't even tell if they DID put a spot there, as you would have to know the name of the overlay file they used to create the spot and tell FS it's a gauge plane.

Thanks!  It's from the Angel on this page, with updates and extra liveries coming on the pages after that.

As most of my flying involves using the 2D panel, (to give total access to all the instruments without scrolling), I regularly add extra instruments to to my favourite 2D Panels, via the panel.cfg file, and suitable gauges....easy-peasy!

My Default Baron 58 has a number of extra gauges fitted to the 2D panel.... Smiley...!

I position them manually, using the X, Y, xx, xx coordinates... Wink...!

Doesn't always work with the VC panels.
