What is the best available bae-146 for fs9 right now? or even fsx? I don't care if it doesn't have a virtual cockpit.

I want to use it to fly to and from the Faroe Islands. Therefore, I'd like one that has an Atlantic Airways livery on it. Any chance any of you know where I can get one?

AFAIK, at the moment the best one is the only one, which you'll find over at HJG. Great realistic panels too, if you take the time to learn them.

Aha.... another potential 146 lover!  The BAe 146-200 is my "bird of choice".  I fly that aircraft about 97% of the time.   It is an awesome regional jet.  Unfortunately, economically... the four engines just didn't make a lot of sense.  But it is FUN to fly.

For my "money", the best version is the Jon Murcheson visual model with the panels made by Matthias Liebrect installed.  You'll find it in the download library here.  Unfortunately, the model still has a few minor bugs fom "reality"..... but it is an awesome model even though.

The version 4 panel by Matthias is one of the best aircraft systems simulations available as freeware or payware.  It is pretty much a "type trainer".  Easily rivals the PMDG stuff for Boeing.  And it is FREE!  There are still a couple of bugs here too... but Matthias is sadly done with the project now.

If you don't want complexity.... don't install the Version 4 panel.  It is not a "get in and fly" situation.  There is also a simplified panel you can use for "casual" flying.

Unfortunately HJG does NOT have the 100 or the 200 series.  They have the 300.  And they have no idea if they will ever get the 100 and 200 models.  They have the Murcheson model and Matthias' panel.

Go here for a one stop shopping for most of the textures available for this and other models:

http://www.baepanelproject.com/

While you are there, also remember to check out Matthias' BAe RJ panel.  It is for the updated "modern" aircraft... installs in the same Murcheson model.... and is also excellent.

As far as I know, the only options include the Eurowings payware one from Aerosoft (on sale now), the Murcheson one, a Mike Stone one, and a Paul Hannity one.

Oh...and I understand none of them work in FSX.  And no virtual cockpits.

Best of luck in getting into this great aircraft.

best,

...................john

In real life too Cool

I was fortunate to fly in one from Townsville, Queensland to Brisbane, Queenland to catch a flight to Bali in 1998.

Hey john! I thought you might be one to reply to this post Grin

Thanks for the input! I'll be flying it in fs9 and have gotten the murchison model with the v4 panel you mentioned. We'll see how it goes!

The manual isn't so hard-going once you get into it. I often fly the 146 and the RJ versions alternately just to keep my hand in! The Hannity model is I think better than the Murchison one, but there are nowhere near as many liveries available for it. The -100 (RJ70) is like hens' teeth - nowhere to be found (unless John knows different...); all I've been able to find in the past is an AI model on A**im, so that has to do for now, when I switch between series.

The image below left is the Murchison -200 over the Alps.
