Create a Simviation Livery!!

After seeing so many of our talented SimV members take up the challenge of repainting, we thought what better way to show off those talents and skills, than by running a SimV Livery Contest.

This will be the second installment of this contest, the first being held back in 2007, the winning livery was created by EGNX.

All entries must be submitted by July 18th 2010.

Poll will run July 21st - 30th

The winner will be announced August 1st 2010.

Rules & Guidelines

- You can use any Freeware aircraft (or other freeware or default addon) that you choose. But it MUST be Freeware or default so that anyone can enjoy it. Wink

Wink

- It can be for either FSX or FS2004. It would be nice if it works in both sims, but it is known that FSX offers many features for painting that are not compatible with FS9, and so the choice of sim is up to you.

- You can submit up to two entries. However, only one entry per person will make it to the poll, and the poll entries will be decided by Mitch & ShaneG, a maximum of 10 entries will make it to the poll.

- When all entries have been received and decided upon, the poll will be started, and the StudioV members will vote on which is their favorite. The winning paint scheme will then be uploaded as the :
"Official Simviation Livery Contest Winner".

- All other schemes can be uploaded if the creators wish it,
but only the winner can claim the title. Wink

Wink

- Other than the fact that your paint scheme must contain the Simviation logo in some way, your creativity is your only limiting factor here. Go wild, use your imagination, and have fun with it!

Thanks. I thought about a lower bare metal half, but don't really know how how to approach it. I do know about Alpha channels and the like but I think the blue should be alright, more appropriate to SimV.

I like what you've done with the layout, interesting choice of aircraft too. The bright colours should help it stand out at airports. Wink

Yes, post a general shot of the livery in this thread. Try to show off most of the paint, if possible. i.e side-view shot or front 3/4 view. Wink

I have been unable to create a new one for several reasons, but I will enter the one I did a while back.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

With out a doubt, the best for a 'tube' aircraft. Perhaps some of that 'God-awful' yellow to enhance the tail logo.

Wow, that looks really nice, the bare metal gives it a Retro look which looks better than the modern airlines liveries. how did you get the bare metal? and how do you use Alpha Channel for shine? i have Paint.net and i dont know how to use the Alpha Channel, it just makes it look terquiose blue at the bottom?

Thanks. The bare metal was used from an American Airlines Livery, I could never create bare metal from scratch. The same goes for the alpha channel. The alpha channel can be edited using DXT BMP. Its the same layout as the actual livery expect it uses black and white colours. White=no shine, black=really shiny, grey's=nice even shine. It really requires a lot of experimenting and you should be fine using Paint.net. Wink
