Looks like they're going ahead with the Live idea for FS.  Cry

So like, just multiplayer flying? I think I'd wait to see what else comes on the table.

I'm guessing that there will be a hefty monthly fee involved.  And that ALL addons will be controlled by Microsoft or Microsoft partners.

And if you don't have a solid broadband connection to the NET....... I'm guessing you'll be S.O.L.

If the existing implementations of Mocrosoft's attempts at multi-player in FS2004 and FSX are any indication........ I won't be waiting with much anticipation.

But we'll see eventually.

best,

................john

But then again, read the "opinion" in the article.  There's still hope for a FS style sim, and I'm not going to not buy it (if one comes out) just because it does not have MS stamped all over it.

Ugh, if this is going the monthly fee route, I think I'll wait and see if Cascade (mentioned in the article) or Aerosoft is able to get their stuff off the ground. Luckily 2004 and X still have years of enjoyment and life out of them yet.

Yeah, it'll be a while before we can capture everything they offer!

Hmph, I wish they would just make FS11. Angry
I might get it, I have FIOS so internet is no problem, but if it had a monthly fee I don't think so.

I thought they made LIVE for Windows free because nobody wanted to pay for that? If there are actually benefits to getting this over FS2004, then yeah I'd probably get it. I'd much rather spend £60 or £70 on a game than pay £40 and be stuck with £10/year membership, even if that did turn out to be the cheaper option.

Well, IDK if this is old news, but I just saw on Slashdot a piece about MS's new sim, simply called Flight.

and a very short teaser video on what seems like a new hotsite

Btw, they're also ressucitating Age of Empires as an online game (maybe something akin to World of Warcraft?)

Again, sorry if it's old news  Smiley

Well, anyways, what of it if MS is doing an online FS? I for one wouldn't mind if they put some new ideas into a new FS... provided of course they don't remove any of the old in the process (and don't charge by the month... I'd be furious if they did that)

Cheers
