Hey Anthony, welcome to SimV!

What explicit sound do you have trouble with?

Generaly no sound? No sound on default a/c or an add-on?

I'm having the same problem.

I can't get any sound from ATC. All I get is the options and text but no voice.

I have even selected several voices from the sound menu and still no soothing voice.

Let me see if I got it correctly: you downloaded the C-4 and the DC-4 from SimV and you can't hear the engine sound on only these two planes?!

Do you have any other sounds that don't work on those planes like gear, flaps, etc. or is it really only the engines?

If you don't have any sound check if there's a folder named 'sound' in the aircraft folder and tell us what's inside if there's one.

We'll solve this...  Wink

1) make sure the DC-3 is in your airplane folder, and was not deleted by mistake some how.

2) If it is there, start FSX and select the "Settings" and click on the "sounds" tab and check to see that the volume is turned up at least mid-way.

3) If those are set, and you still have no sound, start the sim, and when it starts, press "Q".  You may have inadvertantly turned the sound off and saved a flight.

4) If that still does not work, do other aircraft sounds work, or is the  DC-6 the only one giving you trouble?

Hello,

The things 1 , 2 and 3 are correct no problems.

The problems are on one DC-6 the other airplanes have sounds.

May i know, in your simobjects/aircraft/sound how do you else? Do you have the .wav on that destination or you go to /microsoft flight simulator x / sounds?

Thanks
Antonio

To have sound on an airplane you must eather have several .wav-files + a sound.cfg-file in the airplane's sound folder or a sound.cfg that corresponds to a default a/c which has to be in the same folder, the default SimObjects folder.

Sounds like your DC-6 hasn't got own wavs - just open the sound.cfg with notepad and see if the filepath is correctly.
Maybe you have renamed the DC-3?
or the path in the DC-6's .cfg is corrupt...  Undecided

sorry just reread what you were writing three posts above

As Meck said, each aircraft should have it's own "Sound" folder.   Since you shown that you already have the sound folder, and the "sound" .cfg, I'm puzzled as to why it will not work.

Check the aircraft.cfg file, and see if the [fltsim] "sound" line has some funky identifier:

[fltsim.0]
title=Douglas DC-3
sim=Douglas_DC3
model=
panel=
sound=  <<< There should not be anything behind the "=" sign.
texture=1

The only reason for it to have an entry behind the "=" is if the sound folder has a tag, like "sound.something"  Then you can either change the name of the sound folder to "sound" or change the aircraft.cfg to show "sound=something".

If nothing else, just delete or rename the sound file in the DC-6 "Sound" folder, and copy the contents of the DC-3 "Sound" folder into the DC-6 Sound folder.

If *that* doesn't work, I'd be doubly confooosed.   Shocked

I was having sound problems with FSX.  I have managed to delete the driver for Barracuda Razer AC-1 Sound Card.  I attempted to reload the driver and everytime the software says that I must first remove the old driver.  I have used driver sweep and driver finder and both indicate that no driver is there.  Device Manager also says there is no driver. I have contacted the vendor (Barracuda Razer) on four occasions and they are of no help.  Please any help removing all traces of the old driver. Gbergh
