Hi,

I took a short flight around the "Lausitz" region in Eastern Germany today. Starting in the late 19th century this region was turned into a huge brown coal mining area.

...

Some have been filled with water after they closed leaving hundreds of small lakes.

...

Quite a few villages were re-located to make place for new mines.

...

Not the most beautiful region, but quite impressive from above.

Nice shots! Did you spot the EuroSpeedway? 'Til August you should switch the plane though: the Red Bull Air Race will take place there from 6.-8. August.  Cheesy Wink
