How many airports have only one jetway?  I've been arguing with my brother about it.  I know of EKO so far.

I know of several, including DBQ and ALO.  They want to install one at our airport as well, but we are against it.  Basically look for small airports that receive RJ service a few times a day, a lot of them will have a single jetway.

It just depends on the airport, more Airline traffic generally would bring more jetways. But that can contradicted, many Airports that have Airline traffic don't have any jetways at all, such as San Angelo.

What I don't understand is how Airports with only one jetway run more than one Airline out of one jetway. It would just get confusing.

I suppose a better question would be, How many airports have only one Jetway and service more than one airline?

(I know i'm ranting somewhat) But what I also find amusing is small airports that have 3 or 4 runways.  Tongue

It is quite possibly to use one jetway for multiple airlines, it is just a scheduling process.  Large airports are looking into shared space, because it doens't make much sense for one airline to hold a gate, that is empty half the time.

I am curious which airports you refer to as small and having 3-4 runways.  There are a lot of considerations that play into how many runways an airport will have.  Airport design was something I studied in college.
