From what I have seen and read - not in depth, I'll point that out now - it looks almost like it's going to be Continental with United's name.  So long as none of the bad points of United creep in it'll all be good.  Otherwise my OnePass will be going right in the bin.

So what happens to all of the regional operators that own leases to continentals name? Do they just become United Express?

Correct, they will all serve the combined company, which is saying its name will be United.  This merger will be slightly different than the Delta/NW merger, which was basically a takeover by Delta.  All of Delta's regionals still exist, but call themselves Regional Elite as a group, even though the planes say Delta Connection, and each individual carrier retained their callsigns.

Wow...all the airlines I've ever flown on except American and Malaysia have/will disappear Shocked

First was TWA, then Northwest, and now Continental...I've never flown Delta or United.  Sad to see Continental going...they took me on my first flights back in 98 Cry

Just makes me wonder how long the Continental livery will be around...if it will be like Delta/Northwest and immediately start doing away with the CO livery or if they will keep it and just paint United's name in place of Continental like it is on the picture here http://www.unitedcontinentalmerger.com/

Fleet wise they were a much better match up then DL/NW...other then the short haul fleet, United's A319/20 fleet verses Continentals 737 fleet.

Hopefully they will reopen some routes and make them affordable.  Continental did my favorite airport FWA wrong, so wrong they pulled out completely awhile back because hardly anyone could afford to fly with them...Only connected Fort Wayne to Cleveland but when booking tickets they were always hundreds higher then anyone else.  My last flights with American were $330 after taxes...Continental with a similar arrival time were going to be almost $900 after tax...the AA flights were packed...the CO flights were almost empty for those dates Undecided  UA on the other hand was almost the same price as AA.  Made no sense to me then and still doesn't.

That's a really pretty livery, I hope they keep that.

All I ask for is that they keep that good old traditional Continental Customer Care.
