One my favorite movies is "Flight of the Phoenix" with Jimmy Stewart. His C-119 "Boxcar" was brought down by a sandstorm. I thought I would try to replicate that theme with a DC-3.

Now rebuild it.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Doesn't one of the c-119 DL's come with the Phoenix? I have one but I'm not sure where I got it.

I do have Mike Stone's required C-119 USAF for the following textures:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2004props147.htm
Not sure how to add texures to the aircraft. I am new at this.
Also the C-124 Provider is a neat aircraft, it was used in the movie "Air America".
It might be neat to have a movie theme of screenshots in the future.

Piece of cake:
1) extract contents of folder.
2) "drag-n-drop" (or copy paste) the "texture.newthingy" into the origianl aircraft folder
3)Open the aircraft.crg file (If you are using Vista or Win7, copy it to your desk-top, then open it).
4) The "Newthing" addon should have a "readMe" file. Open it, and *usually* (but not always) it should have the [fltsim.X] entry needed. Coppy the [fltsim.X] section from the add-on "readMe" and paste it under the last [fltsim.A] nimber. If you have no otehr addon's, and only one testure, that would be [fltsim.0]
5) Change the fltsim.X] to the next available number. If there is already one fltsim entry, the new one would be [fltsim.1]
6) Rename the original aircraft.cfg (in the aircraft's folder) to something else, like "originalaircraft.cfg".
7) Save and close the desktop aircraft.cfg, and then copy paste it into the aircraft folder.
That should have you ready to fly, and once you've done this a few time, it's easy as pie.

I do have Windows 7, but still can't open the aircraft cfg. file. Adobe Reader can't open this file. Is there another program that will open this file. Windows 7 is not user friendly.
Appreciate your help. Thanks, Mike

Open it with notepad Mike. Be sure to save the changes.

My 'puter crashed a few months ago so I don't have a download that shows where this came from, but it came as part of a C-119 package based on the (new)movie....fortunately I had all my freeware backed up on a external HDD....anyhoo, here's the Phoenix 'reborn':
