I've been using the same graphics drivers for at least a month, and haven't had any problems (until today).

The .fx file for mist is in the effects folder.

Um...  Are you running it in DX10?  What about anisotropic filtering?  try turning both off if you have them on.

I don't have DX10 turn on.  I turn off AF, and it didn't help.

Try deleting the FSX.cfg, it will make a new one, but back it up just in case.

I don't know why that would help, but give it a shot  Cheesy

Didn't work, but it was worth a shot.

have you recently ported over (installed) an FS9 aircraft and it's effects? if so try reinstalling the Cub's effects.

What you are describing is missing or substituted effects in your effects folder. This is caused sometimes by uninstalling an add-on. It sometimes uninstalls other files you need. Or the add-on may purposely replace an effect file with it's own. This is common with smoke effects and lights particularly.

What to do? Make a 'repair' install from your original FSX disks. This should put back the missing files and fix the problems for you.

That looks to me like a missing texture file.

I suggest that you open the fx file with a text editor and see what
texture file(s)  it is using. Then look in the texture folder within
the Effects folder and insure that the bmp is there. Check the
date on it and see if it is consistant with the other default bmp
files.

It may be that some addon overwrote the original texture
file leading to your problem. In which case you can get
the original back from the installation disks. I just don't
know where those files are located but someone else may.

Doing a "repair" may impact other addons that you have.
I would never bresort to that until all other avenues
have been tried.

The .bmp texture file for mist (fx_1 & fx_2) are missing.

Btw, sorry for not getting replying sooner, I've been busy with other things.
