Here is the PBY-5A Catalina by Abacus. From its introduction to U.S. Naval Service in the mid-1930s through its international military use in the 1970s and to the retirement of the last civilian fire-bomber in the late 1990s, the Consolidated PBY Catalina has served a distinguished career as one of the most rugged and vestal aircraft in U.S History.

Nice.
Reminds me of a question I've been wanting to ask: is the Aerosoft worth the $15 dollars more than this one.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Probably as Aerosoft's stuff is top notch imho. I have had this for a while and did not even want to fly it as it is not that great and the VC is kind of basic...

Thanks Dave. I thought the Aerosoft looked better, but looks can be deceiving at times. I've been wanting a really good PBY for a long time and have yet to find a really good one in freeware. Guess that will be my next aircraft purchase. Cheers.

Sorry to interrupt the thread Dave. The Aerosoft's PBY Catalina is one of my favourite addon aircraft and I've had it since the day it came out. Great, highly detailed exterior, realistic engine systems and checklist procedures. Absolutely awesome VC and one of the best radial engine soundset's I've ever heard. Spent many good times flying it online with Andy and we both love it. Highly recommended without a shout of doubt.
Some shots, incase you need more convincing

Ok Mitch, I will agree...
Maybe the
Red
repaint did not do it for me...
The flaps did not work for me either..
Maybe I was too harsh on this Cat...
Is the repaint in your shots one of th3e default paints because your shots and that repaint look really nice.

I remember those Mitch. They are one of the reasons I've been wanting a good PBY. And the only reason I have not already made the purchase is not having a joystick at the moment due to my Saitek going haywire and my problems with the copy/duplicate install of FSX not working properly. But between my anger with Saitek at the long delay with repair and return, disappointment with the second install, and my love of PBY's, I think I will reward myself and get the Aerosoft right now, keyboard cowboy or not.
BTW, what scenery is that. I know Pensacola, but whose/where? Thanks.

Dave, my shots are of the Aerosoft Catalina for patchz, didn't mean to hijack the thread. The Pensacola repaint is default with the Aerosoft Cat. And the reason your flaps aren't working is beacuse the PBY Catalina doesn't have flaps at all.

Glad you like it, look forward to seeing some shots from you. The scenery is NAS Pensacola Forrest Sherman Field and Chevalier Field by Jim Dhaenens. There is v1.3 available
here

Thanks Mitch, downloading now.
Dave, there is nothing wrong with your shots or your bird. The Aerosoft may be a little better, but yours is very good. I also apologize for hijacking the thread, no harm intended.
