I'm looking for an Aero Commander L-26B.  It's got historical significance, being used as Air Force One by Dwight D. Eisenhower for short hops between Camp David and Gettysburg, PA in the 1950's.

I recently visited a Civil War field Hospital in Gettysburg, PA and the current owner of the property and farm took us to the South and of his yard and pointed out an old hangar for an airstrip for WWII pilots to practice on and later for Ike's landings after the Secret Service insisted on pushing back a tree line to the West of the runway.

The runway itself is physically to the North of W05 on the other side of Chambersburg Rd.  You can see what is now appears to be nothing more than a dirt patch that is .62 miles North at 0.06° of what Google Earth defines as Stremmels, PA.

After hearing the tale and looking up the plane, I'd love to fly it myself in FSX, even if I have to fly out of W05!  Smiley

I'd like to see it in the official Air Force One colors from that time period and a full VC if possible.  And also make it workable base on my specs below.

Thanks.

http://www.flightsimonline.com/commander/

Specifically:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2004props6.htm

Milton Shupe has pretty much all of them made. Note that the L-26B is simply the military designation for one of the civilian models, so you are getting the same thing.

I am pretty sure SimV has an Air Force One livery for it too! (Possibly for the 520, I need to find it...)

EDIT: found it, second link.

Went to the second link.  It is for FS2004.  I know it can be used in FSX, I was hoping for an FSX version.  I'm not sure if the GMAX will create problems with my graphics card.  But I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks.

I got the FS9 version to pretty much work.  It does look good.
Other than not seeing the thumbnail (I know how to fix that), the only issue is one gauge.

An error comes up saying FPDA_Gear_Wind won't work.

Trouble is I can't seem to locate where the offending gauge is on the panel yet.

Willing to bet that that is an "invisible gauge" that serves as a call line for a sound effect....in this case, a louder wind noise when the gear is down.

Commenting it out in the panel.cfg will probably not have any adverse consequences.

I'm not a gauge wizzard, and don't really remember now what all the numbers mean, but they don't seem right anyway.

The offending gauge can be found called out in the panel.cfg in two places:

[Window00]
gauge15=fpda_gear_wind,  41,-2,10,10

texture=$vcpanel
gauge13=fpda_gear_wind,  40,-286,10,10

Now if I can locate them, I may be able to fix, replace, or remove them.  I would like them to be working, if possible.

Once again, see what happens if you comment out the gauge in the panel config. It may be an invisible one meant to activate a special feature, so you may not be able to "find" it on the actual panel. Otherwise, you will notice a black area on the panel that held the mystery guage.

If something gets messed up more, just remove the slashes. (I think they are the right direction...)

[Window00]
\\gauge15=fpda_gear_wind,  41,-2,10,10

texture=$vcpanel
\\gauge13=fpda_gear_wind,  40,-286,10,10
