I've started downloading BlueSkyScenery's photoreal, and I will use it some. But when flying low and slow, which is most of the time, I prefer to be able to see individual trees.

FSX default scenery
FS Water Config
Tim Scharnhop's repaint of the default Beaver (here on SimV)
HDE clouds

Thanks for looking.

Nice shots Larry. I only use the BlueSky scenery for  southern Utah and north eastern Arizona for that reason. You don't miss the trees in that part of the country as there aren't that many to miss. Grin I fly low and slow most of the time myself unless I'm up playing in the clouds.

Maybe just a tad, but I still have a pretty steep learning curve.  Grin

Yes, but it's nice to have available if we want to put some altitude between us and the ground. And since I found out you can turn scenery on and off while in the game in FSX, it's a lot quicker and easier to choose.
I would like to get some Arizona scenery, any suggestions for freeware?

Give this a try. Very real looking. Freeware http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?s=5795e0dbd5bdc5d7c0daf7286104444a&app=downlo...
I haven't found much in the freeware department but if you want to invest a few bucks to get the southern deserts of the USA and Mexico to look more like they should give GEX a try. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=gexusacan

Thanks Bob. I already have the Grand Canyon and Death Valley. Love 'em both.
I have been considering a payware scenery, but know almost nothing about GEX, UTX, etc. Is it possible to disable them as you would any other scenery by unchecking the box and then turning it back on at will?

Nope...
But why in the world would you ever want to turn it off and go back to FSX default which really sucks in comparison. You can un-install it though as the software does backup the FSX default files. I have both UTX and GEX which work very well with each other. You can still use photo-real scenery right over UTX and GEX with no problems. Photo-real sceneries are in your scenery library and can be turned on and off at will.

The reason I would want to, is to be able to still post in Freeware and enter the monthly. I won't be able to get a bunch of Payware aircraft or scenery, so my posts there will be limited, just like my budget.  Roll Eyes Sad

Well you could also install FSX again on your extra usb hard-drive and keep it payware free just for the monthly contest.  Wink
