Well, after restarting my computer for McAfee updates, this greeted me.
...
Sidebar programs don't work, neither does McAfee.
Windows Defender wont turn on either.
Anyone help please? Undecided

This looks like the work of malware. Disabling your security, try a system restore and run Malaware Bytes if you can.
I use Vipre now, after several attacks.

Did a system restore, seems better now. Will do a full virus scan and Malware Bytes scan first thing tomorrow.  Wink
Why doesn't McAfee detect malware?

Rich, it's the nature of the beast. I have actually done construction work in McAfee's head office and they have some very bright people working there. I believe they are connected with Norton somehow. They are very good at virus detection but malware is another story. I have had the pay versions of Norton, McAfee, AVG, and more. I am currently using Vipre because it was recomended to me by some tech's who tell me it does not invade your system and slow it down. Vipre covers virus, spyware, and malware. I usually get up to three updates a day, very quick and short unobtrusive updates. So far so good. Only time will tell..  Wink

My guess is that you have the "Your computer is infected with viruses and spyware" malware.  It can hide itself away and get missed by many protection software progs.  What's more, the damn thing systematically disables your ability to fight it.  I got a version that neurtered Task Manager, wouldnt let me run Malwarebytes or Nod32 Antivirus nor SpyBot.  I had to burn my whole system down.  Even found it lurking on one of my storage drives.  Luckily I hadnt done my multi-drive backup for the week.

I think we should take the writers of all viruses, trojans, malware, worms, and hijackware hunting.  I beleive a two minute head start for them would be entirely fair.

Sounds well and good to me. Grin

A bit unrelated, but Game SpyArcade keeps on creeping onto my computer without me installing it, I don't think I've got any games which use it either.
What should I do? I keep on getting rid of it, but it keeps on coming back.

I used to get that.  I switched to norton, and it doesn't have anything of the sort.  It's a McAfee thing.

Asus G71GX-RX05 from BestBuy.     2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (Very easily overclocked by 15%, 25% for xtreme live-or-die sessions),
6GB of 800MHz DDR2 RAM       1GB GDDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M     500GB 5400 RPM SATA-150 HDD, w/ 2nd drive bay.  All for only $1300!

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Help stop this scum from infiltrating the games we know and love!

My experience with McAfee was nothing but trouble.  An update finally totally crashed my machine to the point of a total C drive wipe and full reinstall.

Try AVG.

best,

The last fake antispyware bug I had, I was able to boot in safe mode and then run malwarebytes to clean it.  Safe mode prevented the bug from starting.
