Several weeks ago I posed this question in the general FSX forum. My problem is that when engines are not running and the battery is off, the gauges in some planes (like the CRJ-700) become transparent and reveal erroneous graphics. See this other post:

Some gauges still display data when shut down which is also bad. My question is what section of the XML gauge file is invoked when the cockpit is cold and dark.

Thank you nrev, but I have already solved the problem and have release a major bug fix for both the A321 and CRJ-700 panel/gauges (see panel section of the FSX downloads). I now fully understand how all the gauges work and I will be releasing bug fixes for other FSX stock aircraft.

By the way, the 747 gauges use a completely different approach. They do not draw a default gauge background and instead use the entire panel background image to show the dark cockpit. The A321 and CRJ-700 have holes in the panel and must display a dark gauge to cover them up.
