Lately, I've added payware scenery to FSX and had to back off on some scenery settings, not to mention having to, occasionally in flight, refresh scenery textures when they disappear.  So I'm wondering if my cpu needs upgrading.  Right now it's an Intel dual core E6300 2.8 Mhz and my MOBO is an ASUS P5QL so I'm strictly socket 775.  My card is EVGA 8800GTS and psu Earthways650 so I think I'm OK there.  What, if anything, would a Q6650 3.0 Ghz do to revitalize this setup and would it be worth the $$$$?

Is this your chip? And are you willing to over clock? If so you can apparently get up to 4 ghz

EDIT-Also where are you getting it and for how much

Also on a side note, how long have you had the EA-650?
Just wondering because I had my troubles with it.

1. Do you have the 512mb 8800GTS or the 640mb version of the 8800GTS?

2. I haven't heard of a processor called the Q6650? Do you mean Q9650?

That's the chip that's installed right now and overclocking is not in my area of expertise.  The lowest price I've seen for the Q9650 is at Amazon - $321 with free ship.  Bought the Antec EA650 about six months ago - flawless so far.

It's the 512mb 8800GTS and, excuse my brain/keyboard interface, it is Q9650  Smiley.
