Celebrated Easter, or the heathen/pagan equivalent, in the best possible way... perfect day for the opening of glider season, but with the holiday and people still away on trips to sunnier climes, there wasn't enough manpower.
But I went to the airport anyway, because I couldn't stand it anymore!! It was a flying day!
I lucked out- Gus was closing up the Bellanca post-annual, just as I arrived. Helped put the cowling back on, and it seemed a quick test hop was in order, before he had to report home for family holiday stuff.
A chance to try out the new headset... it did not disappoint.
Like rising from the dead, that first flight of Spring, after months and months on the ground.
Just three trips around the pattern, and no stick time. But who cares? I'm flying!
Plane checked out OK, and the PIC knocked a little winter rust off. Great flight.

What a great day for flying. Considering finishing the rest of my PPL training in a Citabria, flown in one once and was quite the enjoyable experience. Knock over the tailwheel and aerobatic endorsement in one, what are your thoughts on the Bellanca?

I love the 4th shot. It really says "This is flying." Are those railroad tracks right at the end of the runway? I should go there so I can train chase and plane spot at the same time.

I'm not really sure... do you actually
look
at him?
But no, definitely no winter beard this year... pretty much his ordinary scruffy self.

Yes... a freight line, I believe. You can actually get a pretty good look at the trains from the airport property, on the west end of the field.

No, that's just a golf course... but in the Spring, sometimes we see very big fungi of some sort sprouting in the grass in our landing area.
