Just some tips for the new artists that submit images on these boards:

Step 1: Look through the images here:
http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1237807839

Step 2: Figure out what styles, techniques, and elements make that image great.

Step 3: Compare the image(s) that you are about to post to the ones in step 1. Do you think your images are of a similar quality, show something very unique/creative, or show improvement from your past postings?

Step 4: Post your image if you think it is good. Don't post one just for the sake of getting your name in on the boards.

Step 5: Based on feedback, figure out what people like/dislike about the images, and improve your efforts.

Step 6: Win our competitions!  Wink

A worthwhile post Sean.  One thing I'd like to see is an updated tutorial including tips and tricks for using both Corel and Adobe products, the techniques of creating composites and other state of the art scenarios.  While several of our members are obviously at or near the top of the pyramid with the rest of us clustered around the base, it might be a bit much asking them to share their secrets but, nothing ventured nothing gained  Smiley.

That would be a great help since many recently posted threads (like Hagars resizing topics *thumbsup*) are for new members. Though there are quite few threads that lead to the next step (and not to the top of the 'pyramide') like you said: composites etc.
Though this step is imo highly depending on what programm you use and I guess much more complex to explain than resizing e.g.

Maybe a poll with the most familiar editing-software as options might give a good look on what the majority here uses to edit their shots?!

I myself use PSE 4 wich isn't quite up to date but it suits me for my general stuff - though e.g. tilt shift (like seen in many youtube-PS-tutorial vids) is hard to realize with this old version...

Generally speaking I'd welcome a mid-level tutorial series very much...  Wink

Don't forget the freebie software. Free doesn't and never has meant 'bad'.

GIMP (with addon, GIMPShop) is a good Paintshop alternative and the GIMPShop addon replicated Photoshop layout.

Paint.net is pretty good in general.

I combine both because one lacks a feature that the other one has so I am constantly going between the two. That said, I wouldn't go writing tutorials for the most advanced programs... Start simple and with no financial commitments.
