Paul.............I have the Saitek pedals and they appear to be strictly back and forth, using some mechanical method to move the potentiometer to it's travel limits. They aren't very realistic for aircraft use and would probably be less so for auto. While researching, I found several home-built units that could have met my needs had I the expertise. With your electical/electronics background, it might be worth a Google.
