i had to wait for an incoming dash q400.

i wish i had a more powerful pc to be able to crank up the trafic to get more action on runways and in the sky.

you maybe right i didn't give much attention to what tower was saying. i will give a try to enabling plane shadow, i was under the impression that shadowing was giving a more realistic 3D feeling.

Without shadows the aircraft in your shots #1 & #2 appear to be floating above the ground.
