Just went on my external hard drive and almost all the folders are empty. All my programs, including FS9, CFS, the most important part of my FSX, the addon scenery folder, a whole bunch (scientif terms here) of other games, etc. Running virus scans now. Nothing picked up so far. It is still displying that all that space is still being taken up though, so I wonder where it's all hiding. It's not accidentally in the recycle bin unfortunately.  Tongue Tongue Tongue Nice end to a day at 11:30 pm.  Undecided Undecided

Undecided Cry Tongue Undecided

Edited:
Trying to remember, this may have happened before and simply unplugging it and plugging it back in was enough to make it all redisplay, but it was acting strange earlier, so I don't really want to stop the scan  Undecided

Undecided <----- It must be bad if I don't end the post with sunglasses.

Edited:
[edit]Don't know why, but that did make everything show up again.  Shocked Cheesy Still running the scan. This nearly gave me a heart attack since that drive is my backup drive and has all of my personal stuff on it.

Cool

A similar thing happened to me some time ago...

I switched on my computer and noticed that my Hard Drive light was constantly lit, for ages and ages... Shocked...!

I looked in my various Folders and they were gradually being emptied, one by one... Shocked...!

I switched off the Computer quickly...but too late...there was nothing left.. Cry...!

I ended up with a Hard Drive full of empty, yellow Folders!

I think a Virus scan revealed a Virus, Trojan, or some other infection had crept in, via the 'Net.... Angry...!

I think I finished up purchasing another Hard Drive, and re-installing everything again... Cry...!

That was a bad Day!

Paul... Sad...!

Check your power unit.

I had a similar problem.  Thought it was the external hard drive and after trying everything I could think of, I gave up and reluctantly had to buy a new one, thinking all the data was lost.

However, still not willing to give it up, I had a brainstorm and connected the old drive to the new power unit from my new drive and hey presto ... everything was there and back to normal.

I managed to find an old power unit from an older piece of kit and my original drive now sits next to my new drive, both running as normal.

I know what you mean about the 'heart attack' ... my external drive was my personal-data-I-can't-afford-to-lose back up as well!

Alex.
