-Staff OpeningsMarch 20, 2010- New York, New York- Empora Air executives officially announce changes to the luxury carriers operations. Empora Air has leased a small number of De Havilland Dash-8-200 and Embraer 170 aircraft to create its regional operations. Empora has named San Francisco as the hub for EmporaLINK™, the regional brand of Empora. The regional network was created by Empora Chief Operations Officer Nathan Coats and will be managed by company director Clayton Locher. Both aircraft will operate flights out of New York’s JFK airport as well, and Fort Lauderdale, Empora’s focus city. “We feel that the west coast is a place where Empora could have a lot of business, we have spent the past two years analyzing this market and believe that our product will not just be a profitable one but one that our customers will enjoy,” said Locher.
Empora has leased five (5) Boeing 757-200 aircraft from its parent RM Holdings’ leasing firm. The 757s will be used to replace the 767-200s which will be retired by July as the three year lease expires and the last of the A330-200 order is filled. The narrow body aircraft are ETOPS rated and are equipped with winglets for longer range and fuel efficiency. They have been fitted in an all business class cabin and will serve routes such as New York to Barcelona, Frankfurt and St. Maarten, as well as San Francisco to Kahului and Honolulu.
After three years of Empora serving Miami, Empora has decided to move operations to Fort Lauderdale from the airlines first ever destination. Fort Lauderdale is the boating capital of America as well as a rapidly growing luxury market. After looking at the success of luxury companies such as W Hotels, Ritz Carlton and Neiman Marcus’ expansion to the city, Empora decided to the move all flights to South Florida to KFLL. Chief Operations Officer Nathan Coats stated, “Our customers were usually commuting to MIA from Bal Harbour, Palm Beach, North Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. It will be cheaper and easier for everyone to move to FLL. It is an airport that sees traffic from around the world yet experiences almost minimal delays due to traffic.” Service to Nassau, Orlando, San Francisco, Boston and Key West has been added.
The late part of 2009 brought delivers of aircraft to Empora, finishing the A320 orders, and half of the A330 order; as well as five (5) 777-200LRs from Air Ashville were added as well. The addition of the 772LR brings service to Osaka, Tokyo, and Shanghai from San Francisco and from New York JFK, London Gatwick, and the return of the Dubai route. The addition of regional jets created service from San Francisco to Modesto, Fresno, Monterrey, Stockton, Van Nuys and Palm Springs being added in the coming months. The FlyUK codeshare program added service from London Gatwick to Edinburgh, Alicante, Geneva, Glasgow, and even Sharm el-Sheikh. Flights are served on FlyUK’s
Empora’s long awaited IFE system LuxMedia has been delayed to make time for needed ACARS updates as well as website updates, but mostly due to the time spent getting the legal rights to use programming from website and TV feeds; thankfully we have been successful in that. Due to the long delay Paul Marcus has ordered the creation of a specialized web browser and instant messaging system to be created for Empora pilots to use while flying and not worry about freezing, computer stalling and crashes. Those additions have been completed and they are now in beta testing.
