Ran out of fuel because of fog, 8 injured and a writeoff.

Don't be surprised if this ends up in a case of 'someone did the repairs wrong'... The plane involved is a pre-series machine, so it will have differences in its internals

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

This is a bit vague Ivan. Any chance of a link or something?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the two problems are connected somehow, unfortunately they didn't say what the problem was that led to the crash though, so we may never really know. Also, did anyone catch the little news feed thing on the bottom about the helicopter going down at the North Pole, I mean, I know there was another with it that would have been able to help, and I know that there were survivors at least, but I could never imagine going down in such a remote and isolated, and barren location, that's just certain death.

What i suspect is that they did the repair by the book, on a machine which isnt 'by the book' (as it is the 1st flight certified Tu-204 that they made)

Having seen very close up pictures of the build quality of this aircraft type, I would sooner fly by carrier pigeon.
