Ok, I'm trying to decide about a small pc upgrade.

My specs...
Dell GX 620 (I know it's a business pc)
2.5 GB RAM @ 800mhz
80GB HD @ 7200 rpm (and I know that is tiny)
Vista Business
ATI Radeon HD 3650 with 1GB memory
and Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.80 ghz

I was wondering how much of a difference an upgrade from 2.5 GB to 4GB would make. I can do that for about $30. I don't want to spend too much on anything because I'm fixin to build a computer, but that will be a little while from now.
Here is how well it plays FSX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFuCkrxIyi4 and it's not so jumpy with FRAPS off.
So, should I upgrade, or should I wait and build one? (I already have several parts, Case, PSU, Video Card, DVD Drive. Just have to buy Motherboard, more RAM, CPU, HDD, and OS) btw, the RAM I have and the RAM I would be getting will fit in the Motherboard I have picked. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=53252...

My queston is how do you have 2 1/2 gigs of ram, ram should always be symmetrical. Anyways, yeah that would make a substantial difference, but remember, it's not going to make much if your going to crank the graphics/effects up too.

My computer has 4 slots, and it came with two 256mb sticks. I added two 1GB sticks. Thanks for the reply.

Not a problem,
How much are you willing to spend?

Well, I was hoping not to spend too much until I upgrade the whole thing, plus, 4GB is max on this motherboard.

It's hard to decide which component you should upgrade. It seems like a relatively balanced PC, and it's also very old. Adding some more RAM is not likely to improve performance much, and other components are expensive and would probably only improve performance marginally. I think you should just get an entirely new PC...

Thanks for the advice! I almost have enough for the motherboard I'm looking at, so then I'll only need the HDD, OS, and RAM.
