I apologize if this isn't the right forum to ask this  but I find Simviation's search engine totally, utterly, completely worthless. Or is there some trick to finding a given thread? Sorry to be a grouch because otherwise I think the SimV is wonderful as are the helpful people in it.

The only time I've ever been let down by the search engine (the downloads section) was when I was running it on Opera. I am on Firefox and it is going just fine. Forum searching seems alright too.

What are you trying to find?

By this I suspect you mean the forum search feature. This is completely separate from the Site Search. It can be a tad quirky but I can usually find what I want by narrowing it down a bit. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you can't find what you're looking for.

Again, sorry to be such a grouch but I've tried to find a thread I started re faulty tachs in Mooneys and have had no luck even tho I used  Mooney, tach and my own sign-in name in various combinations the search. There was some advice in there that I wanted to review.  I haven't yet used the search for specific aircraft downloads. No big deal, but the forum's search engine could stand some improvement imho.

It would help to know which section of the forum you posted it in. Also roughly how long ago. That would narrow it down a lot.

I know you can search up to 25 of your most recent posts in your user cp at the top of the page. Beyond that, it's the search bar.  Smiley

Yes, I believe it was some guidance I rec'd from Brett & others. And TY Old for the timing. I believe you are right. I now feel somewhat guilty criticizing this great site but I've spent much of my life looking gift horses in the mouth. Or up the other end. )

Hell, I feel so bad now I may atone for bad mouthing Sim by signing on as gold when my next check rolls in.   Cheesy

I also remember your topic. It  would be nice if we can find it. I tried an unlimited search of the whole forum using the key words you mentioned (Mooney & tach) & it came up blank. Unless the forum gremlins have been up to mischief again I can only assume we're using the wrong keywords.

Nobody minds constructive criticism. However, in the case of the forum search feature I assume that is a matter for YaBB & not Simviation.

See next post...

From my experience, and yours from the sound of it, it is much quicker to just go through every board.

I've just spent an hour doing so, and using the search function at the same time on my other screen, and I found it first by just going through every page in the FSX & FS9 section, from the date that you joined. Tongue

Found it in the FS9 Section on page 19: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1240563948
