Rage Against The Machine

Bulls on Parade

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal
I walk tha corner to tha rubble that used to be a library line
up to the mind cemetery now
What we don't know keeps tha contracts alive an movin'
They don't gotta burn tha books they just remove 'em
While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells
They rally round the family! With pockets full of shells!

Pirate Song

My ship was the last sight that many would see,
As we narrowed the gap with our quarry.
Sound of the cannons and splintering wood,
Did herald our pass into glory.
We seized all the bounty and scuppered the ship,
Our hearts hadn't time for no wounded.
I took my share and the crew got the rest,
And on into port we did bound it.

Absolutely beautiful. I've always liked the song, but Eva's version is the best. Love the sounds she gets from her guitar too.  Smiley

Never got to see them, but when I was in Memphis a few years ago, I saw the Allman Brothers Tribute Band at B.B. King's. I was sitting about 12 feet from them, front center and they were really good. There is just something special about twin lead guitars.

I am an American, flying a Swiss made aircraft, the Pilatus PC-6 Porter, in a computer simulation, on a computer made in Mexico, down the southern coast of Austalia, listening to a song, Dead Flowers, being played by a South African band, Piet Botha and Jack Hammer, originally recorded by a British rock group, The Rolling Stones, and posting about it on a world wide forum. Nothing weird about that.  Roll Eyes

I used to play it often when I had the Wurlitzer, as well as their 'Green Onions'. But it can not compare with a B3, no way, no how. Nothing sounds as good as a B3 played by someone that knows what they are doing. Roll Eyes

Before Tomorrow Comes

I couldn’t sleep, I had to listen
To a conscience, knowing so well
That nothing comes from indifference
I look inside of myself

Will I find some kind of conviction?
Or will I bid the hero farewell?
Will I be defined by things
I could have been?

I guess time will only tell

I really shouldn't even be listening to something like this but....."Bliix" is good at this....  Grin Cheesy
Of course I'm probably predisposed to this liking this due to liking some actual/legitimate female-fronted metal/rock bands, but still.......I really shouldn't be listening to these.....  Grin

Additional note: She needs to switch to rock/metal. Most of the songs transition great with Bliix's version, which means that an original rock/metal album would probably be good. (And would make a lot of rock/metalheads really question themselves...)

Baroque music transfers very well across instruments.

This sort of stuff became popular in the late 70's as synthesizers became popular.

Constant Motion- Dream Theater. These guys have some serious talent, definitely underrated.

High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.&&

Yeah, if you guys want to be directed to any female-fronted rock &/or metal, just tell me and specify what sort of thing your looking for (heavy, light, screamy, nonscreamy, etc). Kind of adopted it as my specialty. My friends basically think that if I havn't heard of a certain female fronted rock/metal band, it doesn't exist.

Wildfire

Michael Martin Murphey

Actually I heard it last night while attending his concert in Tomball, TX. Was given a free ticket ($48 value).

He pointed out that the producers weren't crazy about putting it on an album. How it turned out: it reached No. 1 on the Radio and Records charts, No.3 on Billboard's Pop Chart, and No. 1 on all Adult Contemporary Charts (1975).

Paul, we are kind of proud of bands that made it across the borders of our small country. Focus, Within Temptation and a few others are great bands that make music with a passion. The rest is absolute thrash, not worth listening to. An example:

"Go Away"
Delain

Yet another Dutch symphonic metal band.
Carlo, what is your country feeding their women?! I don't know why the Netherlands is such a female fronted symphonic metal powerhouse...but it is.

Also, if you have any insider info on more female fronted ones since you live there, let me know. Usually small recommendations from people with local connections result in my favorite groups. (Happened with a New Zealand group, and a group local to where I live too. Both consist of my top two favorites right now.)

Within Temptation (very good with a wide variety of song styles.)
Epica (your best choice bar none if you like well crafted symphonic metal. Rapidly moving into my top four favorite groups)
Delain (very good, and a nice break from operatic vocals while still being symphonic metal. Hopefully they'll get a bit more exposure internationally than they have been so far.)
The Gathering (still getting familiar with this group, but good so far)
After Forever (disbanded last year, need to listen to them more to form an opinion)

...all from the Netherlands!

The Americans with good taste in music thank you.  Wink

P.S.  Epica, Delain, and The Gathering all have redheads singing. What kind of conspiracy is this?!

Not complaining  Grin  but really....what the heck?
Does sound kind of like Evanescence (listening to your link for the first time right now).

Sean,

Don't know what's with the ladies being red haired but since there aren't that much redheads in Holland (at least a lot less than blondes and brunettes) I suspect that some of those lovely red styles are bought.... Or it is a strange case of coincidence.

Very XD

As for me...

Some early christams spirit!

The Vandals

Grandpa's last christmas

Mom Says, "Put on your Christmas best."
Grandpa's coming down this year and it might be his last.
Why Mom? You say that every time.
It seem that he's been dying ever since I was nine.

I don't mean no disrespect because he's old and mean.
But how come we invite him when he always makes a scene?

Tell me
Why Does, he hit me with his cane?
And why should I get him a gift if he doesn't know my name?
How come, he always calls me "Kate"
and forgets his dentures on his dinner plate?

This could be Grandpa's last Christmas
That's what Mother said.
This could be Grandpa's last Christmas
And soon he might be dead, so be nice.

What can I say to someone 300 years old?
When he seems so content staring at the jello mold.
Please Mom, let me go out and play
or soon I will go deaf like him from hearing him complain.

I know, his life's been long and hard
but he deserves some quiet and peace in a nice graveyard
Grandpa, I love you just the same
But I know that you won't be happy until you drive us all insane

This could be Grandpa's last Christmas
That's what Mother said.
This could be Grandpa's last Christmas
And soon he might be dead, so be nice.
be nice...to Grandpa...cuz he's old....and he smells,
and he's gonna die soon...be nice to Grandpa
