I don't have much experience yet, but find this hobby fascinating.  I loaded the subject model today and it looks like a very nice piece of work.

Only one problem.  I am showing zero gauges in the VC. Took me quite a while to get to fly it as the Magneto Switch was note being displayed.   I down loaded what was suppose to be the FSX version of this model from "FSX Props" latest ad-ons.  The installation instructions were pretty simple, but I'm left to wonder if something was overlooked.

Has anyone else tried this file and had issues with gauges not being displayed (just get blanks where the gauges should be)? Huh

Hi
All the gauges are 3d modeled ..well 99% any ways Smiley
The only reason I know of that they wont show is if your using the orig out of the box ver of fsx.
If so update to at least sp1 and you should hopefully see the gauges. If the above is not the case then please post back

Like he said do you have SP1? That's what I'm running and the gauges work fine. (When you start up FSX, go to 'Home', then downloads, then scroll down to Service Pack 1)
BTW AuMaV, I just downloaded the plane yesterday and the engine was out, then I noticed complete engine failure was checked. I unchecked it and I couldn't get the engine to fire up.
Also the landing gear won't go up.  Tongue

Re. the landing gear, I haven't tried this A/C yet but I recall another A/C which had a guard to prevent raising the gear on the ground which had to be rotated away from the gear handle before raising the gear.  This being a training A/C, it may have that type of interlock.

Don't ask an aviator if he flys fighters.  If he does he'll tell you, if he doesn't why embarass him.

i have fsx acceleration and the plane work fine. that being said i had to read the read on and follow the simple procedure to start it up: go in VC. put magnetos to ON, and fuel selector to Both, then ctrl+E. i didn't try the start engine botton in VC but i assume it should work too. i will eventually try the manual start up. it require more attention but it double the immersion effects.

@Bumkin: No, I got in the air with Slew, and the landing gear wouldn't go up.
I've tried just Ctl + E and the manual start-up, but non worked.

We should get back to his problem.

Hi
Yeah Im using the engine fail as Msoft took away all the other systems when ctrl +e is used Smiley
If your slewing or starting in the air all you need to do is switch on the mags and the fuel selector in the VC
then hit ctrl+E
This will set all the aircraft system to on and the engine fail to off.The gear wont work if Hydraulic pressure is low so no engine no gear or flaps Wink
If your using sp1 or as I just found out recently sp2 you will need to alter the [piston_engine] section of the aircraft.cfg (with notepad)alter
turbocharged=from 0 to 1
max_design_mp=from 0 to 36
this will make the power about right, this is because only the accel package allow's superchargers, why ms didnt include it in sp2 is beyond me
Cheers

Woz, just downloaded this beast and no problems on my end. She's a real beaut maybe a bit too clean for my liking, I prefer to see a bit of oil and grit on older type aircraft. It handles very nicely and its a blast spinning it. Thanks. Cool

Concerning the original post and no gauges:
Did you copy the CAB file to the gauges folder ? Wink

That isn't necessary as the file is in the aircraft's panel folder.  In FS9 and FSX, an aircraft will find it's gauges in either the main Gauges folder or it's own panel folder.

It is important, though, that you do not unpack the .cab file. Leave it as is.

Actually, both FS9 and FSX follow this sequence when looking for gauges:

1. ..\panel folder for any .gau or .cab files
2. ..\panel\some_gauge_filename folder for un-cabbed XML scripts
3. ..\gauges folder for any .gau or .cab files
4. ..\gauges\some_gauge_filename folder for un-cabbed XML scripts

I have not loaded either SP1 or SP2.   Assuming these are available from the MS site, I will do so today.   Thanks a bunch for all the input of great info.   Appreciated!

If you have the acceleration version of fsx you dont need the service packs.

After loading the SP1 file set I could then see all gauges and switches. (Before I had no magneto switch, no fuel tank switch and no gauges). Pretty hard to get going that way!

Now there is no problem getting her started and rolling.  One question though.  I may be doing something wrong but this model is really hard to gain altitude with (seems to have insufficient power to climb).  Do I need to adjust mixture or something to up the engine performance?  She barely climbs at all and is sloooowwww.... Sad  I could win a race to altitude with the Cessna 172.  I know that can't be correct.  I'm using the fully forward pitch position which gives me max engine RPM and max power, correct?

Off Subject:  I have 2gig of DDR2 (would have to check what speed) memory and FSX loads extremely slowly.  Do I have enough memory for this app?
