Red Adair may have passed on, rest his soul, but John Wayne (Chance Buckman), Jim Hutton (Greg Parker), and crew will live on as long as people watch their movies.
This is not an attempt to recreate a scene from the movie. There was no offshore rig in the movie.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Nah, just an uninhabited island. This is about 120 miles off Taiwan. There are two of them about 7 miles apart.

Most of the fire is pasted from a real photo, as is a lot of the smoke. But I added to it in PSP, and then added some colored lights around the rig on the deck and the water to look like the lighting was from the fire.
BTW, the smaller flame just below the deck is a gas flame and part of the scenery. It actually looks pretty cool, especially at night.
I think this is the shot I used to edit.
