Could be a couple of reasons...

-If you're OS is Vista (or Windows 7) your .cfg file changes might be blocked. See here for details: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1250292507/4

What sim?

-FS2004-In the 2D pane, yYou can modify/add gauges, even use a new <panel>.bmp, . The VC is is part of the model and typically, because of the way it's mapped, you can not add gauges to 'open' areas of the panel. You can sometimes substitute for existing gauges.

-FSX-2D panel, the same as FS2004. VC in a true FSX aircraft (not an updated FS2004)...for the existing VC, the same as FS2004. If FSX aircraft has a seperate 'interior' model, which includes the VC, it's possible use a substitute VC.

That may be because you have the "hide known file extensions" option checked.

Not sure where you can change that in Win 7 but in XP it is under My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/View

I am sure there is a similar adjustment avaiable in Win 7.

Why MS ever put that in is beyond me.

there are some files that MS feels that you are not supposed to touch or mess with, so they "hide" the files.  Not to mention it is supposed to make Indexing a drive a lot faster if the indexer can not "see" 5000 other files that are generally never messed with.

But I do understand what you mean.  Why Hide Program essential files that people may need/want to change?
