I seem to have lots of AI aircraft cluttering up my "Aircraft" folder. If I create a sub folder called "AI" and place it inside my main Aircraft folder with all my AI planes moved into it will the sim still find them?

Best

Not in FS2004 - in FSX you can create other locations but FS2004 only looks in the main Aircraft folder.

One thing I do to keep my AI craft "organized" is to use the letters AI as a preface to the actual aircraft's folder name.

example:

AI - Schweizer 300C Helicopter
AI - Hovercontrol  - Jayhawk
AI - Boeing_C17_Globemaster_III

This at least keeps all my addon AI craft together at the top of the listings in my Aircraft folder.

Makes it somewhat easier to see exactly what I have installed.

Correct me if I'm wrong Opa, but you are saying you can rename a folder without changing anything in the aircraft.cfg and still have it show properly? I hope this is the case, as I have had a problem with some designers choice of folder names for some time. If can simply rename the folders and have them work properly, I will be a very happy camper.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Use any folder names you like.  Aircraft folder names are only important when aliasing the panel/sound of other aircraft to them. Probably not a good idea to rename default folders. Don't take my word for it, try it.
