Well, I have noticed that when I push back and use Shift + P and either 1 or 2 the aircraft doesn't pushback far enough to the taxi line.

Is there anything that can help this?

Thanks in advanced,

Sam.

The Push-Back function was never intended to reverse you around the Airfield!
Its purpose is to reverse you from any forward obstruction, (and rotate you if necessary), to allow you to proceed in a forward direction to your desired point, after cancelling the Push-Back.

Sam, welcome to SimV.

After you start pushback (shift+P) wait before pressing the 1 or 2. You can wait as long as necessary as long as you don't press any other keys or buttons.

After pressing the 1 or 2, the plane will continue straight back for approx. 1/2 plane length before starting the turn.

..but it's fun to try.  Wink or pushing back (or is it pushbacking) into your hanger or tie down spot, or parallel park in front of the airport lounge..   Cheesy

There are 2 additional pushback keys:
3-pause pushback...restart with 1,2 or 4
4-cancel turn, continue straight back.

A good rule of thumb I use when using the (Shift + P) function is when you are pushing back, wait until your main wheels or belly is over your desired point you would like to straighten out on, and thats when you it (1) or (2). It usually gives you a fair alignment.
