Windows 7

Everything Works Perfecly well, including a couple PCI hardwares Soundblaster Live & its Gameport and A video capture PCI card ..

All my Very Old softwares Runs OK and some of them needed to be set in compatibility Option
...

and if you need a "Magic& trick" you can create a folder and rename it like this....whala!!

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

with this you'll have all the tools of this New O/S

and YES ,FSX Runs without any Tweak in FSX.CFG very fine and faster than ever, with asinotropic and antiasilasing mode of the game 20fmps,which in XP used to be at 12-8-6 fmps

Things like this should be claim too (not just the bad things),also because Microsoft made the worst  mistake of all its history VISTA before and worse than windows me, I think that they did very well this time putting themselves in users position and creating what could be the best o/s so far  Smiley

also as following this new tradition (like errm we screw it up with VISTA Let's release something that works fine and less comercial, our reputation is sinking like a ship and Linus is growing) they should make a better Flight Simulator, yes FSX is cool ,nice graphics ,amazing& realistic things ,but it has many things that even windows 7 shows in a screen its color is incompatible Smiley ,and the SDK please don't allow under any circuntances models (*.mdl) to be imported as a 3ds ,gmax, max  files ,people are importing files ,remaping and re-releasING them and taking credit for others modeling work ,So like in the old FS9-SDK format ,has to be Unencriptable to protect designer's work.

So this one came to stay Smiley

Congratulations Alex I am glad it is all working out for you.

I have Vista and I do not really like it.

I will make a change when I upgrade again.

For day to day, average usage, without requiring anything fancy, is there any advantage in changing from Windows XP Pro, to Windows 7 Home Edition?

....and is Win 7 "Pro", and Win 7 "Ultimate" really desirable?

Bearing in mind the cost of the "upgrade?"

Paul...with lots of really old Software and Hardware, running successfully under Win XP Pro!...(and Win '98SE!).... Wink...!

P.S ...I never went through the "Vista" debacle!... Wink...!

By the time XP pro becomes useless, you will have been in the ground for quite a while Paul.  Wink

Windows 7 is just Vista with all of the crap removed. So if you saw no need to upgrade to Vista, there is still no need to upgrade to 7.

If you were buying a new computer, then it would be an obvious choice, but as you have no desire to upgrade, there really is no point.

Just like you, I run multiple music recording programs that won't work past XP, so that's why I stayed with it. I just don't have the thousands of dollars necessary to buy the more modern and Vista/7 compatible versions.

What I have works just fine on XP, and I see no reason to mess with success. Wink

So I plan on keeping XP on this system until it dies, but I'm also getting a newer system with 7 installed, that way I'm not screwed when XP goes the way of w95, 98, and me.

I am not so sure about this Shane Undecided ,there's more, it looks indded like VISTA,...BUT it runs faster ,I feel like there has to be a diferent main Kernel system operational has being change and even its NTFS system feels like if there were something diferent in the partition itself Shocked
,I do  keep my old/new box of windows VISTA like a decoration, it cost me 30% more than this new O/S ,the worse part is [color=#ff0000]I couldn't even sale it with the price like if it were a gift. I undertand Pablo VISTA was for me my worse mistake of all my times in my computer life (I could buy a new motherboard and CPU with all that money Cry) and I was Reluctant about all microsoft things adding FSX and the thing in this game that doesn't work well.

It's faster than Vista, because all of the problem causing mess was removed.

Those are Microsoft's words, not mine.  Wink

I'm personally looking forward to trying out 7,  I tried Vista on my dad's computer and didn't like it, but everyone who has 7, loves it. I'm sure I will too.

Use Windows 7 here.... love it! The UI is awesome, and it's much easier to use over XP. Probably the biggest difference I have noticed is DX10 and the much better UI, over Windows XP.
