FSX Shadow Problem... (Solved) (Read 814 times)

Hello ! i have a problem with FSX and self shadowing this only happens on the wing tip everything else seems ok, all nodes/vertecies are welded, any help would be great !

Hi there, welcome to SimV!!

From what I can see, I guess you have the following problem:

I assume you use Gmax for modelling? well, if so, then I assume you used the mirror button in Gmax to mirror the wing? That is where your problem is. the mirror looks fine in Gmax, but when exported, it also invert the whole plane, From your shadow, it looks like the wing does not have the bottom half.

to rectify this:

delete the wing in Gmax, and select the to mirror it , go to the mirror function in the modifier list.

Hi Jakes ! thanks for your help I tried so many different mirroring techniques but kept going around in circles with the exterior being flipped on gmax/fsx and vice versa, with no luck.  But ! i have found the anwser.... for others who may have this problem is to make the texture double sided on the texture properties and all will display properly.
