My PC has been reformatted and I am trying to reinstall FSX Deluxe followed by Acceleration. After I installed FSX Deluxe I did a restart and tried to fire up the sim before installing acceleration. Acc. is not installed yet. I keep getting Error code 8-c0000006. I did a search for the code and found too many different opinions. Before I start pushing buttons, can some one help me out?
Windows XP Pro. And two things I didn't have before reformat are IE 8 and Vipre antivirus.
Edit: I fixed.

Hi Steve
Like you I've had this activation error since a new SSD and advice from all around is not too helpful.
However, I've solved my problem by going (Win7HP 64bit) to 'add/delete Progs' r/click on FSX Accel and select change. Took a while, but when finished - start FSX and it calls for correct Prod Key. Entered it and Voila!
Try it and see if it works for you. If it does, this "old boy" would hope you can pass it around the web for other strugglers to read.
Good luck - and happy landings

Thanks Lin, and welcome to Simv! I got things up and running for some time now, although I have already forgotten how.

You're welcome, but after trawling on Google I found lots of simmers have the same or similar problems with re-installing FSX. Yours was the most recent plea I found. BTW, M$ were unable to help me out via Email. Maybe their knowledge base staff went out with the bath water, LOL.
