I personally think the XC-1 looks too small to need 4-engines, unless they are seriously under-powered or the aircraft is quite heavy. Undecided

It's seems to be the best shape for a short take off, tactical lifter, so why mess up a good thing, when you can fine tune it....kinda like the car market.

It looks to be a bit smaller than a C-17, so two engines are probably more than enough.
