You can see images of what is coming with the 1.09 version of GEX North America in this thread

This will be a free update to GEX USCAN users.

Ultimate Terrain Alaska was just released. Our 1.09 update will blend and work seamlessly with UT Alaska

Brilliant shots as always, are you the only person who ever does the WIP shots, or just the generous soul who loves to make us drool?  Grin  Wink

Any chance that there is a way to do something with the vertical textures on the cliffs?

They really stand out against what is otherwise a masterpiece, and not by any fault of your work I must add.
I know it's one of those FSX bug things, but surely there has to be some kind of a way around it. Seeing them still there is like having a splinter in your finger that you just learn to live with.

This should be an interesting year for that part of the world in FSX.  Cool

I just take shots as I fly and build

as was mentioned in the thread.. Aces did not give us the ability to place textures on those surfaces without stretching them.

Custom scenery and images to cover the elevations are required to correct

Maybe this has been mentioned somewhere before then, or maybe not,  but how about 'squishing' the texture by a relative amount to how much it would be stretched so that in the end, it would appear as you wanted it?
Or is that a bit too much for all of the different elevation changes that would be encountered?

Just curious. Smiley

Looking great as always. Smiley

It would not work

1. the elevation is stretching pixels so even if you did that and somewhat made it better you would still see almost the same effect, add to that, the sim does not use the texture in a defined layout format, in other words there is no way to mate the textures in the set so they all follow the same grain line

2. The same texture is used and not stretched elsewhere, meaning you ruin other mountain areas doing that

That's what I thought. I'm pretty sure you fellas have thought of everything to tackle it.  Smiley

Still, for what we get here, one cannot complain.  Cool

GEX is designed to allow you to add anything you want to your sim from payware to freeware

We dont make it so you have to buy GEX airports and GEX "only" supporting scenery free or payware. Its made to act just like default so if you have Grand Canyon (or any other) scenery you can use it and it will overlay GEX perfectly without any problems at all

Hope you're still watching Nick.  Mentioned this on the Flight1 forum.  Right now, direct download of the new UTX Alaska is an exercise in futility.  The download server net1.100megabyte.com starts out OK but quickly deteriorates to less than 10 kb/sec.  My connection is DSL and I'm not the only user with this problem.

That stuff has nothing to do with me.

Flight1 servers are handled by Steve Halpern

Its probably a saturated download.. everyone trying to get it at once

Give it 24hrs or so..

Also, instead of using the F1 DL tool, try Free Download Manager Lite and use the manual method to download.

Sometimes on new releases Steve will set up alternate DL links because of the volume. He may do that and post it in the UTX forum

He did and it's working well.

Nick, In looking through your wonderful screen shots and postings I was unable to find any information on whether you used any additional addons like UTX, REX, landclass modules, etc. If so, could you please let us know which?

I usually list if any are present

Like I did with the new Arizona desert and Grand Canyon textures

http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=33047&PID=192956#192956

I dont use REX. I use FEX and my own special edited themes and my own coded water reflection/shader file..

and UTX/SceneryTech are landclass products, not textures and only influence where textures are used, but I usually list when I use them

Sometimes I forget though
