Plans generated in FS9 does not take into account the type of aircraft that will be used. Thus, it is necessary to adjust the approach when using a 737 type aircraft, for example. Is there any remedy for this?

file your flight plan as normal in FS9. When you get close to airport of choice, Contact ATC and request the runway of your choice. or File IFR Flight plan and then "expect vectors to final" from ATC.

all the flight planner does is get you from Airport A, or Airport B, via VOR; Direct; Low or High Victor Airways. It is still the responsibility of the pilot (be it virtual or real) to talk to the Air Traffic Controller and to make the decisions regarding take off / in flight details / landing.

Example: Capt. "Sully" Sullenberger, USAIR 1459.. ATC was trying to get him to go back to LGA, or other airports in the area. He told ATC, "We'll be in the Hudson" very calmly. He made the choice/decision that he could not get to an airport so he picked the next best place to save THOUSANDS of lives, not only those on the plane but on the streets of New York too.

YOU are the one at the controls, if you want RWY36 instead of 9, then ask ATC for clearance for 36. Unless it is closed for whatever reason, they will give it to you.

or, being that you are not that use to using ATC, when you get to your destination airport, use the Left Closed Pattern, to circle the airport of choice so you can get your bearings on the airport runways and line it up yourself. Its just as easy, to do a "Downwind, Base, Final" .. not to mention you get to see what is around the airport so you know if you want to hit the town that night.

Basically, all "heavies" (and all aircraft cruising above 18,000 feet) are flying on instrument flight plans, eve in visual conditions, in which case you are under direct control by ATC as long as you are within some radar coverage area.
So they will vector you (more or less) appropriately.
